April News from the SAS

The Archaeology Centre (1-1730 Quebec Avenue) is open by appointment only. Staff can be reached via email or by phoning the office (306-664-4124). If you are leaving a phone message, please allow at least 48 hours for staff to reply. For the time being, we are asking all visitors to continue to wear a mask when in the office. Disposable masks are available for visitors.

Chapter News

All Points Saskatchewan Archaeological Society: All Points Saskatchewan Archaeological Society In partnership with Regina Archaeological Society presents “Ethnobotany in Wabasca_Desmarais: A Look Back in Time” with Dr. Evelyn Siegfried, Member of the Bigstone Cree Nation and retired curator of the Indigenous Studies Program with the Royal Saskatchewan Museum on Tuesday, April 19 at 7:30 pm. Prince Albert Historical Society: Regular museum hours are Monday to Friday. All museums will be closed on Good Friday and Easter Monday. The first regular members meeting in 2 years will be held on April 14th at 7:00PM.

Regina Archaeological Society:

Saskatchewan Association of Professional Archaeologists: The Saskatchewan Association of Professional Archaeologists (SAPA) will be holding their Annual General Meeting on April 22nd at 2:00pm via Zoom. The agenda and a Zoom will be distributed a week prior to the meeting. We are also seeking nominations for the Executive Treasurer position as our former Treasurer had to step down. If you know of anyone or are interested in nominating yourself, please send SAPA an email at sapaexec@gmail.com.

Saskatoon Archaeological Society: The Saskatoon Chapter will be holding their AGM on Friday, April 22 at 7:00 pm. The AGM will be followed by a presentation by Claire Glasgow (née MacKay) on “A Common Conundrum: Differentiating Human from Non-Human Material”. This presentation will be a special tribute dedicated to the memory of the Chapter’s former long?time member and past President Debi Farrow who passed away in 2021. Job Opportunities

We’re looking for students and recent graduates to work with our organization starting in May 2022. We are looking for two recent graduates to fill two 6-month paid internships and two current students (returning to school in the Fall) to fill two 15-week summer staff positions.
