February News from the SAS

The Archaeology Centre (1-1730 Quebec Avenue) is open by appointment only. Staff can be reached via email or by phoning the office (306-664-4124). If you are leaving a phone message, please allow at least 48 hours for staff to reply.

February 21 – Saskatchewan Day

Call for Board Nominees: The following positions are open for nominations:

  • Treasurer
  • 2 Members-at-Large
  • First Nations/Métis Member-at-Large

All terms are for two years. Incumbents may run for a consecutive term, with a maximum service of six consecutive years in the same position. The SAS has four board meetings per year (on Saturdays). There may be additional meetings called for committee work. The SAS values diversity and inclusivity. We welcome applications from individuals who have skills in finance, fundraising, human resources, governance, policy, risk management, technology and marketing. Chapter News

All Points Saskatchewan Archaeological Society and Regina Archaeological Society:

Prince Albert Historical Society: The Historical Museum is open weekdays from 9 AM – 4 PM. On Saskatchewan Day (February 21), the Museum will be open from 1-4 PM with free admission.

Regina Archaeological Society: Please join the RAS in our partnered presentation with APSAS on February 9th at 7:00 PM via Zoom. APSAS is hosting this months partnered presentation with guest speaker Keith Carlson “ The Kidnapping of Indigenous Children in BC’s Pre- Residential School Era”. To obtain Zoom link please refer to poster under APSAS chapter news. The RAS AGM will be held via Zoom on February 15th at 7:30 PM. Zoom link will be emailed to RAS members.

Saskatoon Archaeological Society: The Saskatoon Chapter is proud to present Claire MacKay-Glasgow (University of Edinburgh) on Friday, February 25, 2022 at 7:00 pm. Claire will be speaking on her osteology research in honour of longtime Chapter member and former president Debi Farrow.
