*Please note that between May 3-5 and May 23-26, Freshie Week by the Museums Association of Saskatchewan will be held at the office and as such SAS staff may be unavailable in person. Staff are still available via email and by calling the office (306-664-4124).

Chapter News

All Points Saskatchewan Archaeological Society:

Prince Albert Historical Society: The Historical Society office and museum is open from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday except on Wednesday, May 3; Saturday, May 6; Wednesday, May 10; and from May 13-22 in order to get ready for the summer season. Starting on May 23, all four museums will be open daily from 9:00 am until 5:00 pm. Up-to-date information is available on www.historypa.com. May events include: 

  • Annual Crocus Tea: Wednesday, May 10, 2-4 at the Historical Museum. $15/person. First come first serve, however, reservations are welcome. Call (306) 764-2992 to reserve your spot. 

Regina Archaeological Society:

Saskatoon Archaeological Society: The Saskatoon Archaeological Society will be on hiatus for the summer months and will re-start monthly talks in the fall of 2023.  For more information, contact the Chapter via email saskatoon.archaeology@gmail.com or visit their Facebook group.

Saskatchewan Association of Professional Archaeologists: The SAPA AGM has been rescheduled to May 26th, 2023. SAPA is currently seeking nominations for the following Executive positions:

  •  President
    • Nominee: Tam Huynh
  • Vice President
  • Treasurer/Secretary (the positions are potentially going to be combined, pending approval from the membership at the AGM)

Join the Saskatchewan Archaeological Society’s Executive Director, Tomasin Playford, as she speaks about how and why this book came to be. Evelyn Siegfried will also present her perspectives on archaeological collection curation.

Freshie Week

We are thrilled to announce that, in partnership with the Saskatchewan Archaeological Society (SAS), we are extending the dates and locations of Freshie Week!
We will be open and set up to train your summer students in anything that might help them hit the ground running in both Regina and Saskatoon.  This is a come and go event, no registration is necessary, and coffee and snacks will be provided.

MAS staff will be available with resources at both locations on:
May 1-5, 2023 MAS Office – Regina (8am-4pm)
May 3-5, 2023 SAS Office – Saskatoon (8am-4pm)

Learning opportunities and resources for SAS summer students, along with all things MAS will be made available in both Regina and Saskatoon on the following dates:
May 23-25, 2023 MAS Office – Regina (MAS and SAS staff) (8am-4pm)
May 23-25, 2023 SAS Office – Saskatoon (MAS and SAS staff) (8am-4pm)
May 27, 2023 SAS Office – Saskatoon (MAS and SAS staff) (12pm-4pm)
May 27, 2023 MAS Office – Regina (MAS staff only) (12pm-4pm)
