November News from the SAS

The Archaeology Centre (1-1730 Quebec Avenue) is open Monday to Thursday by appointment only. If you would like to stop by, please email or call ahead (306-664-4124) to set up an appointment with a staff member. Visitors will be required to wear masks in the office. Disposable masks are available in the office. All staff are also available via email Monday to Thursday from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm.

Chapter News

Prince Albert Historical Society: The Prince Albert Historical Museum is open from 9 AM to 4 PM weekdays and will be open from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Remembrance Day (November 11). The Education, Corrections and Diefenbaker Historic sites are open by making an appointment with the Historical Museum at 306-764-2992.  Masks are mandatory as well as COVID protocols such as a maximum of 15 people in the museum at a time. The Museum Archives are open again to researchers. Protocol information available on website. A raffle is being held for 3 items: an antique washstand including pitcher and basin, an afghan and a wall hanging.

Regina Archaeological Society: The RAS will be meeting on November 17th at 7:30 pm for a presentation from Dr. Glen Sutter (Curator of Human Ecology, Royal Saskatchewan Museum) presenting “The Value of Eco-Museums”. This talk will include an introduction to the eco-museums movement and what it could mean for Saskatchewan communities. If you would like to join in on the presentation, please contact Alice so that we know how many plan to attend and so we can forward you the Zoom link.

Saskatchewan Association of Professional Archaeologists: SAPA will be having a membership meeting and AGM on November 20th at 2pm. The meeting with be held via Zoom – details for how to access the meeting will be distributed prior to the meeting to members.

Saskatoon Archaeological Society: The Saskatoon Chapter is in the process of planning a November monthly meeting via Zoom. For speaker/topic information and to receive the Zoom information, please contact the Chapter via email.
