Office Update

Starting October 1 to December 31, 2023 the office will only be open Tuesday to Thursdays from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Staff can be reached via email or by phoning the office (306-664-4124).

Holiday Office Closure: December 22, 2023 to January 1, 2024 inclusive.
We will reopen for regular office hours on Tuesday, January 2, 2204.

Membership, Grants & Bursary Updates

2024 Membership Price Changes
With increasing production and distribution costs for print issues of the Quarterly magazine, the SAS Board approved a membership increase effective immediately for 2024 print memberships. Membership fees for digital (PDF) issues remain unchanged. All members who opt for the print publication will see an increase of $5. US customers will see a $10 increase. The new print membership fees are:
Student – $30
Senior – $40
Individual – $45
Family / Institution / Chapter – $55
US customers add $25

Both the Bursary and the Grant application deadlines are now January 31, 2024! Information and application forms are available here.

Chapter News

All Points Saskatchewan Archaeological Society:

Prince Albert Historical Society: The Historical Museum is open weekdays between 9am and 4pm. The Rotary Museum of Police and Corrections, Evolution of Education and John and Olive Diefenbaker Museum are all available by appointment. Please call the Historical Museum (306-764-2992) to book an appointment. The Bill Smiley Archive is also open to researchers by calling the Historical Museum. December 10th – Christmas Tea at the Historical Museum. $30 per person. Limited seats, reserve by December 6. Please visit our Facebook page for more information.
December 14th – PA Historical Society Christmas Supper at 6pm at the Coronet Hotel. Members $25, non-members $30. Please reserve your seat by December 8
December 16 – PA Junior Historical Society; 10am to 12pm. Kids aged 8-12 are welcome. There is no cost to this program.
December 17 – Coffee and Conversation, 2pm. The Watsonairs, a ladies choral group will speak about their history and will sing a few songs.

The PA Museums will be closed December 23 to December 26 and December 31 – January 1. The Historical Museum will be open December 27-30, and January 2.

Regina Archaeological Society: RAS members will join the APSAS hosted RAS/APSAS partnered talk on Wednesday, December 13, 2024 at 7:30pm featuring Mikayla Coad Epp. Her talk is titled “Late Bronze Age-Iron Age transitional Ceramics in the Southern Levant”. Saskatoon Archaeological Society: The Saskatoon chapter will be meeting on Friday, December 15th at 7:00 pm in Room 132 of the Archaeology Building (55 Campus Drive). The December speaker is Dr. John Verrall, MD (Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Pharmacology, University of Saskatchewan) who will present on “Preservation of Cartilage Structures in Mummified Human Remains from Ancient Egypt”.
