March News from the SAS

The Archaeology Centre (1-1730 Quebec Avenue) is open by appointment only. Staff can be reached via email or by phoning the office (306-664-4124). If you are leaving a phone message, please allow at least 48 hours for staff to reply. For the time being, we are asking all visitors to continue to wear a mask when in the office. Disposable masks are available for visitors.

Quarterly Update: The first edition of 2022 of the Saskatchewan Archaeology Quarterly is here! Check your mailboxes! If you do not receive your Quarterly by March 4, please contact the office.

Publication Update: Last call for donations! If you would like to donate to our upcoming Point book, please send in your donations by March 11. All donors will be acknowledged in the book and those who donate over $100 will receive a free copy!

All Points Saskatchewan Archaeological Society and Regina Archaeological Society:

APSAS will be holding their AGM on March 29th, 2022 at 7:00 PM. The Zoom link will be sent to members prior to meeting. To hold director positions or vote at AGM, membership must be in good standing. To renew membership, please contact Dorothy at all.sas@sasktel.net . 

Archaeology and Anthropology Students Association: The Archaeology and Anthropology Students Association in the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology at the University of Saskatchewan will be once again hosting the annual APALA conference on March 5 & 6! The conference is virtual with live and pre-recorded presentations during the evenings of March 5 & 6. The Zoom link as well as presentation titles, abstracts, and speaker information is available on the conference website. All are invited to attend!

Prince Albert Historical Society: Museums open 9 AM- 4PM weekdays, as per provincial health order masks are optional. March 10th – PAHS AGM, 7pm at the Historical Museum March 12th is the final Free Family Programming afternoon that is supported by the Community Grant Program. This is a scavenger hunt within the Historical Museum.

Saskatoon Archaeological Society: The Saskatoon Chapter is proud to present Dr. David Meyer (Professor emeritus, Department of Archaeology and Anthropology, University of Saskatchewan) on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 7:00 pm. Dr. Meyer is this year’s Jessie Caldwell Memorial Lecture speaker and will be speaking on “The Archaeology of Ft. de la Rivière Tremblante: a Stepping-stone in the Origins of Metis Society”.
